Description
The 1860 and 1860S healthcare respirators are meant to protect the wearer’s respiratory system from particular airborne pollutants. They follow the CDC’s Mycobacterium tuberculosis exposure control standards. They are intended to decrease wearer exposure to particular airborne particles, such as those created by electrocautery, laser surgery, and other powered medical devices, as disposable particulate respirators. They are meant to be fluid resistant to splash and spatter of blood and other infectious materials as surgical masks.
The 1860 and 1860S particulate respirators are personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to protect health-care personnel from dangerous airborne particles that are small enough to be ingested – typically particles smaller than 100 microns in size.
Airborne particles containing biological material, such as Bacillus anthracis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, mold and the virus that causes Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Influenza, are examples.
