Connecticut-based Battery Maker Halts Production to Distribute Millions of Pieces of PPE
The switch comes amid nationwide COVID-19 Delta variant surge

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (September 1, 2021)—Devon Company, a leading supplier of industrial
batteries since 1990, has suspended battery making to focus on full-time procurement and
distribution of critically needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to shield the nation’s brave
frontline professionals and others against COVID-19. Devon is taking this bold step now as Delta
variant cases continue to fill hospitals and drain PPE supplies.

To meet demand, Devon is stockpiling in Colorado, Connecticut and Florida millions of pieces of
PPE. The goal is to get ahead of the current surge and be ready for another potential fall/winter
outbreak.

PPE available for immediate distribution includes:
• Surgical N95 masks
• Non-surgical N95 masks
• Latex gloves
• Surgical gowns

“We think it’s important to do our part as a company,” said Frank Cirillo, lead counsel and
spokesman for Devon. “Stepping up to provide critical PPE is the least we can do for our
neighbors, friends, and family as the COVID-19 pandemic rages.”

Much of the PPE is being stored in our warehouse in Waterbury. Press tours of the facility for
video and pictures are available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays by appointment.

Prior to this, Devon distributed 2.3 million masks to frontline workers in Mississippi, donated
tens of thousands of masks to Connecticut judicial marshals and provided thousands of KN95
masks to the Connecticut Department of Corrections.
